Bletchley Park were privileged and delighted to receive Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall as official guests on Thursday 24 July. The Royal couple visited various exhibitions including the Bombe and Colossus Rebuilds and spent time chatting to various wartime Bletchley Park Veterans. The visit also marked the opening of the new ‘From Bletchley, With Love’ exhibition telling the story of Ian Fleming’s top secret wartime work as special liaison officer between Naval Intelligence and Bletchley Park. In a speech to an audience of Bletchley Park supporters, HRH The Prince of Wales emphasised the importance of maintaining this unique heritage site and paid tribute to Bletchley Park’s wartime personnel, saying, "You are the keepers of one of the greatest British success stories. Workers here had ensured that this country finally emerged victorious from World War II." Simon Greenish, Director of Bletchley Park Trust, said: "We are enormously encouraged by the support of Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall and we are tremendously honoured that so many Bletchley Park Veterans were in attendance to give first-hand testimonials of their critical wartime work here." |
