Alan’s career developed in the information technology and telecommunications sectors. He has worked for a number of large global organisations – ICL, Fujitsu, BT Plc, AT&T, Cable and Wireless, Reliance Globalcom and Batelco Group. His experience was gained in sales and marketing disciplines and he progressed through commercial leadership to general management and chief executive positions. He has substantial expertise in developing partnerships, alliances and collaborative ventures. During his career leading international businesses, Alan has had the opportunity to live and work all over the world.
Alan has served as an executive committee member of a FTSE 100 company, and he has held a number of executive and non-executive board positions, including as a chair of a fast moving consumer technology business in China. Alan has also supported other organisations in the charity sector, having been a Trustee for several years of a school serving children with learning difficulties.
Alan is currently Managing Director for Vertiv, the global leader in designing, building and servicing mission-critical infrastructure technologies which ensure that vital applications always work.
His experience was gained in sales and marketing disciplines and progressed through sales leadership to general management positions. He has substantial expertise in developing partnerships, alliances and collaborative ventures, and was instrumental in creating Concert, a 50/50 joint venture between BT Plc and AT&T, and at that time the largest joint venture business ever.
Alan holds a Masters in Management from McGill University, Montreal, Canada, and a BA (Hons) in Psychology from the University of Manchester. He is also a graduate of The International Masters Programme in Practising Management at INSEAD.
