Porters Lodge Officer
Once the top-secret home to World War Two Codebreakers, our Mission is to preserve and enhance Bletchley Park, to attract, engage and educate visitors from all over the world through the continuing restoration and development of the entire estate and our exhibitions.
Bletchley Park is a vibrant heritage attraction, open daily to visitors. We are currently recruiting a Porters Lodge Officer to be responsible for controlling entry to the Park, welcome visitors to the Lodge, and operate the mail receipt and delivery systems at the Park. This position will work as part of a team with shared responsibilities and a focus on excellent customer service at all times.
Applicants will have experience working both as part of a team and without supervision, and will be able to manage workloads and take on challenges. You must be methodical and organised with basic IT skills, including Calendar and Email.
This position will involve heavy lifting and carrying and will be based outdoors a lot of the time. Candidates will be physically fit and able. This role requires a reliable, honest and conscientious person. An awareness of mail procedures and security systems is desirable but full training will be given. References will be required. This is a uniformed post and a smart appearance is required.
The role is initially for 72.5 hours per fortnight, Monday to Friday on a rotating schedule of 33 hours one week and 39.5 hours the next including working every weekend.
The hours/days will change in 2020 due to a retirement within the team.
