The Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB) at the National Radio Centre at Bletchley Park is pleased to offer a new workshop: An Introduction to Amateur Radio.
This introductory workshop is intended to give delegates a greater understanding of amateur radio, where there will be specialist people on hand to discuss how to get involved in this interesting hobby. The workshop will involve of a mix of introductory talks, videos and demonstrations, with the morning session being held in a classroom environment. After the workshop, delegates will have the opportunity to visit the RSGB’s National Radio Centre (located within Bletchley Park) to see an amateur radio centre in action.
Delegates will have the opportunity to talk with our radio operators and gain knowledge in:
· Short wave radio communication around the world
· Receiving voice, Morse code and digital signal transmissions
· Learning how to track satellites and the international space station
The workshop runs 10:00 – 13:00
The workshop is open to people aged 17 years and above. Persons under the age of 18 attending without an accompanying adult will need to bring written permission from their parent/guardian to attend.
This is not a technical workshop, but it does introduce the basic concepts of electromagnetic waves, frequency and wavelength.
Refreshments will be provided and there will be ample opportunity to talk with the presenters throughout the day. Places are limited to 12 participants. Anyone wishing to attend must pre-book.

Entry by pre-booked tickets only. Please bring the printed email confirmation with you to Admissions. The ticket includes access to Bletchley Park for the purposes of this workshop on the specified date only. Admission for this event is on a day ticket basis and does not include a season pass to Bletchley Park. (You are welcome to upgrade and purchase a season pass on arrival, but this is not necessary to gain access to this event.)

Cancellation policy – Tickets cannot be refunded once booked and paid for.
