The Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB) invites families to join the National Radio Centre at Bletchley Park for a fun and hands-on workshop where they can learn more about radio and electronics.

There will be two identical workshops on the day:  

Workshop 1: 09.45 until 12.15  
Workshop 2: 13.00 until 15.30

Both workshops are fully booked

Young people will enjoy learning a little about radio and electronics by building their own VHF FM Broadcast Receiver. It will involve using some simple tools.  

There will be a short briefing to provide some background about wireless communications, radio reception, amateur radio and electronic construction. Participants will build a VHF FM Broadcast Receiver kit. This will include using a printed circuit board, selecting components, soldering them in place and testing the circuit. Attendees will also be able to visit the RSGB National Radio Centre to learn more about the history of radio communications and to see a modern amateur radio station in operation. 

The workshops are suitable for those between the ages of 11-18 years old. Attendees aged 16 and under must always be accompanied by a responsible adult. This workshop is not suitable for those at Primary School.

Attendance at the workshop will cost £11.00.
This event is suitable for 11 – 18-year-olds. This workshop is not suitable for those in primary school.
One adult accompanying an attendee aged 16 and under will receive free admission to Bletchley Park.  Any other accompanying adults must have a valid ticket for entry to Bletchley Park, either an existing annual pass or purchased for entry on the day.
An FM radio kit (one for each registered student) will be provided free of charge by the Radio Communications Foundation and attendees will be able to take their newly built radio away with them at the end of the workshop.
All tools, test equipment and instruction will be provided by the RSGB.
We will be running two identical workshops on Sunday 1 December, both now fully booked.
Please arrive at Bletchley Park at least 20 minutes before the start time of the workshop. Attendees and accompanying adults will be collected 15 minutes before the start time of the workshop from Block C, Bletchley Park’s Visitor Centre.
